Michael F. Yarborough, MD, has practiced surgery for more than
30 years and currently offers his experience as a consulting surgeon. A
graduate of Davidson College and the University of North Carolina School
of Medicine, his internship and residency were served at Parkland Hospital
in Dallas and The University of Washington Hospitals in Seattle. He served
on the surgical faculty of the Cornell University Medical College and as
attending surgeon at The New York Hospital and Jamaica Hospital.
Upon his return to North Carolina in 1980, Dr. Yarborough helped grow the
practice of Waldenberg, Yarborough, and Cline, MD, PA, over two decades.
He was attending surgeon at Rex Healthcare, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital,
Western Wake Hospital, and Wake Medical Center. Dr. Yarborough also completed
executive education studies at The Wharton School and has served as adjunct
faculty at both UNC-Chapel Hill School of Public Health and Peace College.
Numerous awards, directorships, appointments and honors dot Dr. Yarborough’s
illustrious career. They include the Young Surgeon Award from the American
College of Surgeons and his appointment as Honorary Surgeon at Rex Healthcare.
He has served on the Board of Trustees of Peace College and Glenaire Retirement
Community, and on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Chapter of
the American College of Surgeons and Carolina Physicians Health Plan. He
is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh where he has served as
deacon and elder.
